Topic: Have you left all to follow Christ?
Text:Luke 9:57-62 And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Message
The above opening verse is a case of those who desire to follow Jesus, they all have the mind that they want to go to where Christ go, they want to be mightily used of God as God uses Jesus and empower Him but Jesus told them one after the other that if they are truly ready to follow Him, they must be ready to take up their cross immediately, they must be able to abandon all just as Christ did.
This is an important lesson for all God’s children who have the intention to be used of God to be ready to forsake all and take up the assignment of God... When Jesus called Peter, immediately Peter left his fishing business and followed Christ without looking back. If you must be used of God in this dispensation then you must be able to take up your Cross, abandon all distractions and then follow Christ.
Brethren, no man who abandon all and follow Christ lacks anything..
Luke 22:35-36 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
The above is Jesus word asking those who have left all and followed Him if they lack anything, Jesus will call you and abadon you, the fact that you are facing a challenges doesn’t mean Jesus Christ has forgotten or abadon you, be ready to put all your hope and trust in Jesus Christ.
In conclusion: When you are called of God, be ready to follow Him without looking back because you will not regret it.
Action point: When He call you, harden not your heart
Prayer of confession: I surrender to your will lord
