“Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins”

Yesterday, we started talking about making no excuses.
The word ‘Excuse’ means "to give a defence or reason for something."
It also means "an unjustified or false reason for something, a false reason given to cover up the real reason."
One of the areas that people give excuses is in doing God’s will.
People give excuses for lying, calling it smart. Some give excuses for being unkind or inconsiderate to others, saying that the other person deserves it.
A few times, people are guilty of devising ingenious excuses for not doing their duty toward God.
During the Covid19 pandemic, quite a lot of believers refused to pay tithes during the lockdown, justifying the decision by saying that ‘this are pandemic times, and we don’t know how long the lockdown would last’.
Imagine such a lame excuse for not obeying the Almighty God, who is able to make all grace abound at all-time, any-day!
How many times have you ever given God a lame excuse for what you were doing or not doing?
Do you really think you could pull the wool over God's eyes with your excuse?
In Luke 14:18-20, Jesus gave the story of a man who held a great supper and invited many, but when it was time for dinner and they were asked to come in and eat, they all began to beg off, one after another, making excuses and sending their regrets.
The master of the house immediately asked his servants to go into the streets and alleys, to bring in all those who were homeless and hungry and could use the meal.
He finally said, none of those who were originally invited will get a bite again.
Making excuses for not doing what is right before God is not tenable and totally unacceptable.
*Action Point*
Make a choice to always do the right thing, and if you err, don’t make excuses, rather, learn from it and be a better person.
*Prayer point*
Father, help me not to give excuses for not doing your will in Jesus Christ Name.
