Topic: INTIMACY WITH GOD

Text: John 10:30

"I and my Father are one".

MESSAGE

Intimacy means a closely knit relationship that exists between two or more people. The parties involved in such a relationship know each other perfectly, that is, flaws and strengths, likes and dislikes, areas of interest, and so on. With such perfect and in depth knowledge about each other, the persons will consciously avoid hurting, disappointing, provoking and/or falling short of each other’s well known standards either in words, attitude or actions. The singular condition for the maintenance of such a relationship is "to keep oneself in the good books and looks of the other person CONSISTENTLY(John 8:29).

Spiritually, intimacy with God, at whatever level, defines and determines the strength, depth and scope of our relationship with God. Benefits abound in being intimate with God. Some of them are:

1. In depth knowledge about God.

2. Divine revelations of mysteries (Dan 2:16-19,29-45; 4:19-27).

3. Divine approval among people(Matt 3:16,17; Num 12:1-8).

4. Prosperity in the midst of barrenness(Gen 26:2-6,12-14).

5. Uncommon insight and understanding about issues and situations.

HOW CAN ONE BECOME INTIMATE WITH GOD?

1. Have a definite and sound New Birth(Salvation) experience(John 3:3,7). Be born again.

2. Deliberate daily study of God’s word, the Bible(Josh 1:8).

3. Conscious and consistent Obedience to God (John 8:29).

4. Constant fervent prayers(1Thess 5:17).

5. Total Faith and Trust in God(John 14:1; Heb 11:1,6).

6. Regular fellowship with fellow heaven minded believers(Heb 10:25).


ACTION PLAN: Make deliberate daily effort to develop, maintain and retain constant intimacy with God in words, thoughts, attitude and actions.


PRAYER POINT: "O Lord God, please, help me, by your grace, to be intimate with you always, so as to daily enjoy the benefits therein, in the Almighty name of JESUS CHRIST. AMEN.
