TOPIC: Be wise enough to wait on God
TEXT: Matthew 2 vs 1-3,8-9
1 Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem,
2 Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.
3 When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him.
8 And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said, Go and search diligently for the young child; and when ye have found him, bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.
9 When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was.
MESSAGE
Waiting on God is the most wise and profitable thing a man can do and the major inadequacy of man is his impatience to wait on and for God.
The three wise men in our text (Matt 2:1-12) were wise because they were able to read and discern the stars that appeared to be a sign of the birth of a King and where he was born, but were not patient enough to wait on the Divine direction of the stars.
It was the stars that led them from the East to Bethlehem, but couldn’t be patient for the star to lead them to where the King was born. Instead of following the star, they sought for further direction from man (King Herod), which later led to the death of many children and would have led to their own death too if they had returned to back to him (King Herod).
It was the star they couldn’t patiently wait for, that later led them to the exact place the child was born.
Be patient enough to have the complete direction from God, don’t receive half information or direction from God and go to man for completion or complement; it may be dangerous to you. Even if you will inform man about it, let the complete instructions be from God not man.
PRAYER
Father Lord, I pray that grace and wisdom to complete waiting for instructions and direction be released upon me in Jesus Name. Amen
