Topic: *As an Ambassador*
Text: Nehemiah 10:28-33 And the rest of the people, the priests, the Levites, the porters, the singers, the Nethinims, and all they that had separated themselves from the people of the lands unto the law of God, their wives, their sons, and their daughters, every one having knowledge, and having understanding;
They clave to their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse, and into an oath, to walk in God’s law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and his judgments and his statutes;
And that we would not give our daughters unto the people of the land, nor take their daughters for our sons:
And if the people of the land bring ware or any victuals on the sabbath day to sell, that we would not buy it of them on the sabbath, or on the holy day: and that we would leave the seventh year, and the exaction of every debt.
Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;
For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.
*Message*
When we claim to belong or identify with a society or any ideology, it means by all means we are a representative of the conventions, norms, belief and customs of it. Thus by no means should we find ourselves doing anything that will mar the image of what we represent.
An ambassador is a representative of a king or a country in another land. Amazingly God also have ambassadors on earth. However, toward the work of the house of the Lord, they all jointly worked together verse 29 says they “clave” to their brethren to make things work. As the ambassador you are, irrespective of your land, you must not forsake the gathering of the brethren; you must not feel all sufficient. Remember, the oath of stewardship you made to God, remember your vows and just live in verse 30-31, ensure to let the covenant run from you to your children. Abraham did it, so was Isaac.
As an ambassador, keep the flag on onward proclaim your master, publish abroad his wonderful name; extol the all victorious Jesus for His kingdom is glorious, he rules over all.
Prayer: Lord as your Ambassador, renew my strength; keep me focus for the work of your house.
