DATE: Sunday 20th September 2020

TOPIC: The Spirit of Elijah

TEXT: Malachi 4 vs 5-6

5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the Lord:

6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.

MESSAGE

At anytime that the Lord will be coming, there will always be an Elijah sent to prepare the way for Him. The spirit of Elijah is known to be in the spirit of intercession and a witness, and it’s being sent before the coming of the Lord to prepare the way.

Before the initial coming of the Lord Jesus, John was sent in the spirit of Elijah to bare witness to His coming and prepare the heart of men towards His coming. Baptism is a sign of accepting the teaching and the witness of John towards the coming of the Savior.

In every revival, there must always be someone or some set of people ministering in the spirit of Elijah by interceding and preparing the heart of men towards the coming Revival. Revival can be said to be the coming of the Lord in the way and manner of awakening men and revealing a new dimension unto them.

Fundamentally, there’s a general expectations for the coming back of the Lord on Earth to take His people unto Him. For this great coming of the Lord, there must be a preparation and these are the days of preparing the way whereby God has sent some set of people in the spirit of Elijah to prepare the way for that great day, and they are the Church (Rev 22:17). We, as the Church, are the Elijah of this time sent to prepare the heart of men through the Gospel of Christ towards the final coming of the Lord, and we must be faithful to it as John was being faithful.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus, open our eyes to this great assignment and help us to be faithful in it
