Topic: Be such a friend II
Text: Luke 5: 17-19 (GNT)
17. One day when Jesus was teaching, some Pharisees and teachers of the Law were sitting there who had come from every town in Galilee and Judea and from Jerusalem. The power of the Lord was present for Jesus to heal the sick.
18. Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a bed, and they tried to carry him into the house and put him in front of Jesus.
19 Because of the crowd, however, they could find no way to take him in. So they carried him up on the roof, made an opening in the tiles, and let him down on his bed into the middle of the group in front of Jesus.
Message
Yesterday, we started to cross examine the story of the lame man helped by his friends to see Jesus despite all challenges. An English proverb says 'your friend can either make or mar you'. Beloved, carefully list out your inner circle of friends, can they easily stand for you in the days of adversities. There are different types of friends, learn to classify everyone around you in such a way that you can know who is who. Jesus during his earthly ministry had a lot of disciples, out of them, he has twelve inner circle and even out of the twelve, he has three closest friend.
Beloved, you need to surround yourself with people that counts. And while cross examining your friends, what kind of friend are you also? You cannot be lackadaisical about other people's welfare and you expect them to be running helter skelter when you are in need. Your friends can be your destiny helpers if only your attitude isn't sour. Slangs like 'I can't love someone else more than myself' shouldn't be your anthem. The anchor story is also a story of love, friends who truly love the lame man. Can you say you truly love your friends if you consider how you act towards them. Examine yourself today and make necessary adjustments. Shalom!
Prayer: Lord, surround my life with people that matters. I don't want to be in the company of mere men again.
