GRACE CENTRE DAILY DEVOTIONAL:
DATE: 2ND February, 2021.
TOPIC: IN ALL THINGS, BE THANKFUL.
TEXT: Ephesians 5: 20
Always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
MESSAGE:
Paul’s final instructions to the believers in Ephesus on the basis of Christian life include how to cultivate an attitude of thanksgiving. Thanksgivings is an expression of gratitude to God for His mighty acts in our lives. Being filled with the Spirit makes praise and thanksgiving to God easy.
Naturally, we find it convenient to thank God when things are falling in line and everything is on course. But when things go the other way, it becomes difficult to thank God. That is when the exhortation of Paul becomes relevant:
"In all things, give thanks."
The same exhortation was given in 1Thess 5: 18.
Thanksgiving and praise involved more than just speaking lovely words to God. There is power in the praise of God. Giving praise to God should not be determined by our emotions.
God is worthy of your praise whether you feel like praising Him or not .
Hebrew 13:5, When you make praise a habit , you will realize you always surrounded by the presence of God, even when things seem not to be fine.
Job experienced a turn around because he maintained an attitude of thanksgiving when lost all he had.
Job 1: 20-22, 42:12.
Action point: Remain ever grateful, life is a privilege not a right .
Prayer Point: Lord, open my eyes to recognize Your sovereignty in all situations and to respond with thanksgiving.
