Topic: What do you think you have?
Text:Matthew 22:15-22 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
Message
The idea of paying taxing is not just about giving out. In reality, it is about acknowledging that part of you isn't yours and you have to let go. When we know this, paying tax of whatever kind or manners becomes easy, not minding what it is used to do or achieve.
Verse 15&16 shows us one obvious truth about Jesus even the disciples do not want to admit although they acknowledge honesty is the bedrock of truth, be honest and you will find yourself true always.
Caesar a government representative , a communal face that needs from Mr A and B gather resources from the people. Thus it became a right, since you were given.. the pharisees asked a question that birth a realty we must all pay attention to verse 17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? Listen to the reply of the master in verse 19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. In reality what Jesus meant was bring out all you think is yours, body and it's components, money, property, achievement etc v 20, Jesus asked whose picture is in it. Now ask yourself your body whose picture of ownership is on it, your heart, mind, leg, mouth, hand. Do you think you created it. Jesus as they replied in verse 21, reply truthfully now and give what belong to God to him now, pay your tax now! Stop denying Him.
Brethren, if you truly accept and acknowledge that all you have belong to God,so henceforth ensure you don't deny God all of what you have, Give to God your totality and See God in action.
Inconclusion, the government will encourage you to pay tax so that they will develop the community so also is God asking you to give your body to Him so that He can use you to develop your community even as He makes you a vessel unto honour.
Action point: Pay now! Withholding nothing
Prayer point: I acknowledge that there is nothing I have father, take my life and let it be yours forever
