TOPIC: THE GOOD SHEPHERD
TEXT: "I am the good Shepherd The good Shepherd gives His life for the Sheep. (Jn. 10:11).

MESSAGE
The Shepherd is the caretaker of sheep. He owns the sheep and is committed to them. Shepherds if could be like to political and religious leaders, especially those who care for God's people (Jerry.3:15).

In describing the Lord as his Shepard, David wrote out of his own experience of caring for sheep (1sam. 16: 10-11). Sheep are completely dependent on the Shepard for provision, guidance and protection. As the Lord is the good Shepherd, so we are his sheep, not frightened passive animals, but obedient followers, wise enough to follow the one who will lead us in the right places and in right ways.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the good shepherd. He is committed to us and even lay down his life for us. He is the Shepherd of the Sheep and not of goats. The Sheep are his people, the obedient Christians (Phil 2:5-8). The goats are people who find it difficult to obey God and continue in sin (I Jn. 3:8). The final separation between the sheep and the goats will soon take place. The sheep will inherit the kingdom of God, but the goats will go into everlasting fire (Matt.25:41) When we allow our Shepherd to guide us, we will have contentment. Our shepherd knows the "green pastures and "still waters" that will restore us. We will reach these places only by following him obediently.

Prayer Point: Every Spirit of rebellion against the good Shepherd in my life, die by fire in Jesus name. Amen
