Topic: GOOD WORK
Text: ACTS 9:36-40
Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which by interpretation is called Dorcas, this woman was full of good works and alms deed, thus it came to pass in those days that she was sick and she died: whom when after they had washed, laid her in an upper chamber and forasmuch as Lydia was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent unto him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. Then Peter arose and went with them. When he was come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and shewing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
MESSAGE
Good work is known by our actions and deeds toward others. In our text today, Dorcas (Tabitha's) good work spoke for her. The bible recorded that she helps the poor and the sick; these things were what the people noticed and felt this woman must not die. Good work speaks, it might not be immediately but it will surely speak in the future.
Christianity is not only about you knowing how to pray, fast or speak in tongues, you must also add doing good to others to it. How then do we do good?
1. Take care of the needy, weak and the poor, give to those who have not and it doesn’t not mean it should only be among Christians alone we can extend our good work to unbelievers too; this will even make them to accept Jesus. Let learn to do good where ever we find ourself.
2. Love, this helps us do good to others. When you love you will always think about doing good to other people.
Tabitha’s good work brought her back to life. Think about it, what can your own work bring for you?
Action Point: Do good today in all honesty and truth!
PRAYER POINT: Lord Jesus teach me how to do good to others. Amen
