TOPIC: Who are you?
TEXT: Psalms 1:1–6
[1]Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.
[2]But they delight in the law of the lord, meditating on it day and night.
[3]They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.
[4]But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.
[5]They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly.
[6]For the lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.
MESSAGE
It is always exciting when we sing the song, ‘I know who God says I am… ‘ But you know, the question really is, do you know who you are?
Vs 1 says ‘BLESSED’ that means sufficient, endowed, worthy of reverend etc is THEM who… Thus who thou art is supposed to be BLESSED ( meaning God’s proposed position for mankind)
However, before we can be in a blessed position, we must be conscious of some hows. Firstly, we must note how we Walk (meaning the way we order our attitudes), how we Counsel ( meaning our exchange of opinions speech wise) and how we Stand ( meaning where we get the experiences that makes up our personality). The reason because they all must certify Godly rules of which implies the ways known by the lord.
When we certify the above explained foundational step, our life is then shaped and influenced to ‘delight’ in the Lord. So we can now say we possess the identity of the blessed when we’ve walked where and how we are supposed to do it.
Only when you are blessed can you yield fruits as stated in Vs 3. Just remember, the ungodly are not so. The formula thus is Godliness + the righteous walks= the blessed man.
I am godly because Jesus my Lord knoweth the way and as he leads, I am following rightly. Yes I know who I am! Do you know who you are? Join the discipleship of Jesus today as you confess your sins, pray, read your Bible and obey! Jesus loves you. God bless you
