GRACE CENTRE DAILY DEVOTIONAL

DATE: 21st June 2022

TOPIC: Who are you?

TEXT: Isaiah 51:21–23

[21]But now listen to this, you afflicted ones

who sit in a drunken stupor,

though not from drinking wine.

[22]This is what the Sovereign lord,

your God and Defender, says:

“See, I have taken the terrible cup from your hands.

You will drink no more of my fury.

[23]Instead, I will hand that cup to your tormentors,

those who said, ‘We will trample you into the dust

and walk on your backs.’”

MESSAGE

The book of Isaiah is a record of how God’s beloved misbehaved and were handed over to the Babylonians. We also have in record how the Babylonians felt overwhelmed by this opportunity to have the ‘Beloved’ in custody, thus they acted over the fence as they fail to regard God whom from him all things commeth.( Psalm 24)

In our lesson today there are about 3 lessons we should note and utilize the knowledge that comes from it. The first point to note is that; God is indeed the Alpha and Omega of all things. What does he not own? Everything he created was good. Genesis 1,2. So since all thing is from him then all is his dear

beloved.

Secondly, we must also understand that as a Father he can chasten us anyhow he likes. He can choose to put you under some authority to learn and unlearn until he is ready to deliver. However the man who seems to be in authority now must tread carefully, it will not be forever in as much as the offender is willing to repent, God is ever loving and faithful to save.

Thirdly, Sin is one thing God abhors, it takes us away from him and causes judgment to come. However as human we must always remember that judgment is of the Lord, thus we must be careful of what what we say our do to our fellow while we engage with them, they maybe in such situation today because they erred but it could be you tomorrow, trend carefully! Least the CUP they are currently drink will be passed to your table.

ACTION POINT: Be realistic with yourself now, are you a Babylonian?

PRAYER POINT: Dear Jesus I receive your kind of mind, so I can act right. Amen
