Topic: Mercy
Text: Psalms 51:1-4 “Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.
Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest”.

Message
Examine the confession of the psalmist, do you think it comes from a heart that is puffed up with pride and arrogance? Those confession were that of a heart that knows the truth! Acknowledges the truth! And is ready to live by it's consequences.

The definition of mercy, being the withdrawal of judgement is effective only on a contrite and broken heart. When then bible says you will know the truth and the truth will set you free John 8:32, what do you think he was implying?
V3: the psalmist professes how his status of being a sinner is true. The tax collector who went to pray in our parable did the same and God was moved to show him mercy.
Mercy works with the truth on God's compassion and God's compassion is ignited by act of soberity, acts that erupts from a covenant between God and man due to obedience and humility.
Brethren, the truth is waiting to set you free.

Action point: Mercy is God's respond for your action. Be true

Prayer point: Lord have mercy on me. Amen
