Topic : Fear God and obey His commandment.
Text: Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
Message
Fear means Terrified veneration or reverence, particularly towards God.
The fear of God means holy reverential deep and abiding respect and regard for God.
We as children of God, we need to fear God and keep His commandments as we obey our earthly parent. Having the fear of God in us will prevent us from engaging in anything call evil in the sight of God. As it is written in the book of proverb. " fear God and keep his commandments",
Examples of those who fear God;
• Joseph Gen 42: 18, 39:7, he feared God and the promises of God find expression in His life.
• Another example is the midwives. Exodus 1:17. They refuse to obey the king order but follows God’s order.
Behind every promise made by God the condition to get those promises requires you to fear God and keep his commandments. As it is written in our text the whole duty God required from us his to fear him and keep his commandments. In the book of 2cor7:1, Apostle Paul was admonishing us that we should work toward holiness because we fear God. Also our Lord Jesus Christ also told us in the book of Matt 10:28, that we should fear God only who can destroy both body and soul in hell.
When we lack the fear of God sin increases in our lives. Psalm 36:1.
Action word: Having the fear of God is Good because it save us from caving into our own sinful nature.
Prayer point : Lord put your fear in me and help me to keep your commandment.
