TOPIC: Works of the Flesh IV
TEXT: Galatians 5:21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
MESSAGE
Glory be to God for the last teaching in this series, may His word be fruitful in our lives. We will conclude this series by examining the works of the flesh listed in Gal 5:21a, which are;
Envying: This is synonymously used with the term jealousy. It is believed that jealousy unchecked can result to envy. Envy is when you can go to any length to tarnish, spoil or destroy another fellow out of animosity or hateful feelings.
Murders: This is the act of killing oneself (suicide) or another. The bible clearly warns against this and it is listed as the work of the old man(flesh). Don’t involve yourself directly or indirectly through slander in another person’s death
Drunkenness: This is the excessive ingestion of alcohol. Some believers believe taking a cup doesn’t hurt, but without moderation, this can lead to drunkenness. So, abstinence from alcoholic drinks is the best method so as not to fall prey.
Revellings: Amplified translation called it Wild partying. Some believers still attend church and night clubs, they attend wild birthday parties and other gatherings that Godliness isn’t invited. Going to party isn’t a sin, even Jesus was invited to a wedding ceremony. But any party that you are attending that you will have to leave your belief at the door isn’t godly and is poison to your soul.
In conclusion, it is not all the works of the flesh that are listed and examined here. Allow the Holy Spirit to teach you so as to live a Holy life. Shalom

Prayer point: Lord, help me to live a holy life. I ask for grace to drop every weights and sins that easily entangle with my soul.
