Message.
How deliberate are you about your offerings unto God? Our anchor scripture tells the story of two brothers who decided to give an offering to God. Although a lot of heresies has been formed around this story but there are some clear lessons we can pick from the story concerning offerings without distorting the word of God farther from the truth.
One of the most important lesson is Abel was deliberate about his offering. The bible states clearly that 'vs4. Then Abel brought the first lamb born of one of his sheep, killed it, and gave the the best parts of it as an offering (GNT)' You must learn from him and be deliberate about all the offerings you give to God.
For example, going to church on Sunday and nonchallantly dipping your hands inside your pocket and offering whichever you feel good isn't too good as a Christian. Why not plan ahead of the month that "this is what I will be offering unto God everytime I appear in service". Don't just give random low bills note whenever you are in church!
Have you sat down and carefully add up how much you give as offerings in a month? Giving random One hundred naira bill in each service if you appear in church eight times in a month is just eight hundred naira. Now, according to Malachi 3:10, are you sure you aren't also robbing God in offerings? Judge yourself and make necessary adjustments if you know you are guilty. Shalom
Prayer point: Lord, help me to give unto you willingly and deliberately
